Purpose of the Form I-290B:
To notify USCIS that you are filing a motion to reopen or reconsider a USCIS decision or appealing an adverse decision regarding your case.
The form may be used in the following circumstances:
- To file an appeal with the Administrative Appeals Office (AAO); or
- To file a motion to reconsider a decision of USCIS (either the AAO or a field office); or
- To file a motion to reopen a decision of USCIS (either the AAO or a field office).
If you are the beneficiary of a visa petition or the beneficiary's attorney or representative, you may not file an appeal or motion.
The filing fee for a Form I-290B is $585.
