Last Will and Testament.
While no one likes to dwell on the inevitable, it's better to be prepared than not. A will lets you decide ahead of time how you want your assets to be distributed after your death. A will also allows you to dictate how you would like to be put to rest, decisions that would otherwise be decided by your relatives, not your partner.
It is important to remember to change your will if there are big changes in your life. This is especially important if you have children or move to a new state.
